There are these people who are selling multiple cars on Craigslist and they ALWAYS leave their cars next to my dad’s house. My dad is getting really annoyed and it’s pissing him off when the owners of the cars feels that my dad should be looking out for them while they are at the property (the owners move the cars to other parts of town, but mainly leave it by the side of my dad’s house.) Is there anything we can do about this?
Thank you!
Unless an official from your town/district is here on Yahoo! Answers, complaining on here will get you nowhere. Call the police or something. I don’t know.
Check with the police to see if there is any local law that would prohibit this kind of selling.
(It might even require the obtaining of a court order to abate the nuisance, but ask the police and the city government.)
The owner of the property can have the cars towed away at the vehicle owner’s expense. Public land would require the police to tow the vehicles.
Call the police or your local magisterial court and make a report people should.not be on his property and I’m some places you.need a lisense to even sell multiple vehicles
Find out who owns the property, first. Look into zoning in your area, talk to local police or law enforcement. Call a lawyer that will give you one free meeting. They could be considered doing a business, storage etc, illegally (or non-zoned).
Legally you can report them as abandoned vehicles. The police will mark the tires to see if it has moved. After 48 hours it will be towed. If you do not care about the law cut a few tires and see how long they keep parking there. Or call a tow truck from a payphone pretending to be the owner. A few tow charges might deter them. Also turn them in for not having a dealer license.
yess you can have the car towed since its your property you have the right to get it towed since its a disturbance to you all and they cant leave there cars parked there usually a no parking sign works put one up in your front yard if they dont listen just get it towed. if im not mistaken thats an invasion of privacy
Public street means they can park the cars there. If the cars are just parked there, there is not that much that can be done about it.
However they appear to using the street for a commercial activity. If buyers are coming to look at the cars there, then they would be in violation of local government bylaws.
The best option is to setup a meeting with these people. Invite them in for a cup of tea or coffee. Ask about the business, then talk about how your preferred that the cars were not there. Your father shouldn’t have to explain why, just say he doesn’t want them there (explaining why, would mean these people who are manipulators, would try and talk their way out of it, then get snarky whether they win or lose).
Next is to write a letter asking them not to leave the cars there. Don’t say what you will do if they don’t, just keep it polite and straightforward, and imply further action (of a legal nature).
Then go to your local government office and see what can be sorted out. Certainly if people are looking at the cars while parked there, it is illegal commercial use of the land.
