do you need to own the property when you sell your business?
if i own my own business, when i want to sell it do i need to own the property its on, or is it alright if its just a lease?

You don’t need to own the property. The property and business are separate and you can sell the business alone.

You can absolutely sell the business without owning the property. However, when you sign your lease, be sure that you have the right to transfer or assign the lease if you sell the business without the landlord being able to renegotiate the terms of the lease.
