I want to rent homes and sublet it for a profit of $200 or more on each homes. Is this illegal? I want to rent a maximum of 500 homes, I’ve been searching around and most home are rent below the market value. Do I need to talk with the owner to do this?
You do have to let the owner know and my leases specifically prohibit subletting because the city they are located in prohibits it. So check the lease and city as well. Also, check if there are other requirements, like insurance. I had rentals in another state where liability insurance was required.

If it was so easy, don’t you think the LL would be doing this?
Do you have a real estate license? May be illegal without one.
YOU would be personally liable on the lease, and if the tenant defaulted, LL will come after you.
